  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup toasted pecans
  • 1 cup toasted walnuts
  • 3 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 6 ounces chopped chocolate
  • 1 tart pastry shell

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and set a double boiler over simmering water. In the top of the boiler add the butter, 4 ounces of chocolate, and the heavy cream. Stir and melt the mixture until it is smooth and then remove it from the heat. Whisk the egg, sugar, vanilla, and corn syrup in a medium bowl. Stir in the melted chocolate and the nuts. Pour the filling into the tart pastry shell and bake for 20 minutes. While the tart bakes, melt the remaining chocolate in the double boiler over low heat and drizzle over the tart when done. Wait 15 minutes before serving.
