The secret to this lasagna is that instead of deciding on either ground beef or Italian sausage, you can have both! This ultra cheesy and super saucy dish will definitely satisfy a big and hungry family.

  • ½ lb. ground beef
  • ¼ lb. ground Italian sausage
  • 2 T. olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (16 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 1 ½ tsp. oregano, divided
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (16 oz.) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 C. mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ C. Romano cheese, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a large skillet, heat oil and sauté onion and garlic until fragrant. Add in ground beef and sausage and cook over medium heat for 10 to 15 until cooked through. Add in crushed tomatoes, ½ teaspoon of oregano, salt, and pepper; simmer for 20 minutes. In a large bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, Romano, egg, salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of oregano. Spread a spoonful of sauce at the bottom of a greased baking dish and layer noodles, cheese mix, and meat sauce. Top the final noodles with sauce and extra mozzarella. Cover pan with foil and bake for 40 minutes, remove foil, and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
