Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb. butter
  • 3/4 C. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 apple

Directions

Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Mix well. Add flour and baking powder. Stick apple into dough. Put in ungreased pie plate. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Bake for 45 minutes.

  • These directions were sort of a challenge, no size for the ungreased pie plate, I used 9 inch pie pan, no temperature to bake at - I used 325 degrees, stick apple into dough? What does that mean - stick a whole apple in the middle of the dough? I sliced 1-1/2 green granny smith peeled apples and mixed into the dough and baked. It was like a coffee cake, my family loved it, served it warm with ice cream, but I liked it plain. Made the house smell really good!
