A classic fried appetizer that never turned down. Great for replicating that "sports bar" atmosphere in your own home.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 onion per serving
  • 1 C. all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 C. milk
  • 1/4 C. vegetable oil

Directions

Cut large Spanish onion or Bermuda onion crosswise into 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick slices. Separate into rings. Dry onion rings and coat with flour. Make batter using remaining ingredients. Dip onions into batter letting excess drip off and fry in hot oil until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
