Oriental Pepper-Beef Shreds

This is not an extensive recipe. Seems to be a easy recipe to make with sirloin, bell peppers and some oil and soy sauce.

Cut peppers in long slices. Cut meat into pieces about 2 inches long and 1/4 inch shreds (easier to slice when about half way frozen). Blend 2 Tbs. soy sauce, sherry and sugar. Marinate meat 10 minutes in mixture. Heat oil in skillet. Add beef shreds and cook 3 minutes. Add soy sauce and salt to taste; stir. Serve with rice. Grated fresh ginger improves flavor.

  • I would NOT use the higher priced cut of steak for anything sliced/matchsticked this thin. Definitely not plain sugar, but some orange marmelade is so much tastier. I prefer to make a sauce with beef bouillon, corn starch, soy sauce and water.
