This is another recipe where you need to think ahead so you can soak the navy beans overnight! It’s all worth the trouble, though! These beans are loaded with bacon and other savory ingredients!

  • 3 C. dried navy beans, soaked overnight
  • 1 Tbs. sea salt
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 3 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 C. molasses
  • 3/4 C. maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbs. dry mustard
  • 3 Tbs. apple cider vinegar

Cover the beans with water and season with salt. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer for 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Put the beans and the remaining ingredients into an oven-safe dish and stir well. Cover and bake for 2 hours. Uncover and bake for an additional 30 to 40 minutes, or until thickened.
