Beer, fish and chips make for a great recipe. We got some inspiration from our English friends overseas, but the beer gives it a taste unique. This traditional dish is delicious even when it's oven-baked.

  • 1 bottle beer
  • 2 C all-purpose flour
  • 1 C salt
  • 1/4 C black pepper
  • 1/4 C garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 lbs. skinless, boneless cod fillets, cut into 1-inch-wide strips
  • French fries, as needed
  • 1 lb. green beans

Preheat oven to 225 degrees F,

In a large bowl, pour in beer. Sift 1 1/2 cups flour into the bowl, whisking in gently until combined. Mix salt, black pepper and garlic powder.

Season fish on both sides with salt and pepper and coat in the beer batter. Dip fish into remaining flour and place into Dutch oven.

Bake fish for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

While the fish is baking, bring water to a boil and cook green beans for 5 minutes.

Follow cooking instructions for French fries.

Serve fish with French fries and green beans.
