Ingredients
- 3 qts. milk
- 3 sleeves of Saltine crackers, crushed with rolling pin
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 or 2 sm. cans oysters or 1 pt. fresh oysters
Directions
In soup pan, add milk, butter, pepper and heat but not to boiling. Do not boil milk. Add oysters and liquid from oysters to milk when milk gets warm. Put in three-fourths of crushed crackers. Should be a little thick but not stiff at all, as I like adding more of the crushed crackers to my soup bowl to thicken it up. I add more pepper and salt if needed, but Saltines should help to the point you may not want any salt added. Adjust the cracker mixture to a soup base you like. Enjoy!
