  • 16 large sea scallops, room temperature
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 T. low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 T. rice vinegar
  • 3 T. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1 T. sesame oil
  • 1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 1 tsp. canola oil
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together green onion, garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, cornstarch, sesame oil, and red pepper. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the scallops. Sprinkle with black pepper and cook for two minutes on each side. Transfer to a plate and cover to keep warm. Whisk sauce into the pan and bring to a slight boil. Drizzle the warm sauce over the scallops and serve.
