Peanut Blossom Bug Eyes

Ingredients
- 1 9-oz. bag milk chocolate kisses
- 1/2 C. shortening
- 3/4 C. peanut butter
- 1/3 C. granulated sugar
- 1/3 C. packed light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbs. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- orange sugar crystals
- vanilla frosting
- orange food coloring
- chocolate sprinkles
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Remove wrapped from chocolate pieces. In large mixer bowl, beat shortening and peanut butter until well blended. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually add to peanut butter mixture. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in orange-colored granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately place chocolate piece on top of each cookie, pressing down so cookie cracks around the edges. Transfer to a wire rack. Cool completely. When cool, decorate the cookies with orange tinted vanilla frosting. Put three dots for eyes and a nose. Press two sprinkles in the dots for eyes.
