These calamari rings are based off of Rock Bottom's Calamari and Pepper Rings. To get a similar spiciness that Rock Bottom's appetizer offers, serve with a spicy sauce or sprinkle with hot pepper flakes!

  • 2 C. canola oil
  • 3/4 C. cornstarch
  • 1/2 C. flour
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 lb. calamari rings

In a large skillet, heat the oil to 360 degrees over medium high heat. In a bowl, mix the cornstarch and flour with some salt and pepper. Coat the calamari in the mixture, removing any excess before placing in the oil. Fry for about 3 to 4 minutes, or until they are crispy and golden. Remove from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
