  • 1 package of mostaccioli
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 ½ lb. ground beef
  • ½ C. onion, chopped
  • ½ C. water
  • 2 C. mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 can of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 can of tomato paste
  • 1 can of tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper

Cook the mostaccioli as instructed on the package. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan brown the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic clove. Drain the fat. Add in the bay leaf, water, diced tomatoes, sliced mushrooms, tomato pasta and tomato sauce. Stir well. Mix in the sugar, dried basil, salt and pepper. Drain the mostaccioli. Combine the sauce with the mostaccioli. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.
