You can make this recipe using any fruit you want, but fall seems to call for apple desserts. To make the crumble even crisper, add plenty of oats, chopped nuts, or cornflakes.

  • Fruit:
  • 3 apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 Tbs. honey
  • 2 Tbs. cold water
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • Crumble:
  • 4 Tbs. cold butter
  • 4 Tbs. flour
  • 2 Tbs. sugar
  • 2 Tbs. oats
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 380 degrees. Chop the apples into 1 in. pieces. Put the prepared apples into a saucepan and add the water, lemon juice, and honey. Over medium heat, cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring gently every few minutes. Cook until the apples soften and become slightly mushy. Meanwhile, to make the crumble topping combine the sugar, flour, oats, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add the butter and mix together by hand until coarse crumbs form. Spoon 2 Tbs. of the fruit into each ramekin and sprinkle 1 to 2 Tbs. crumble topping over each ramekin until it's all been used. Bake for 20 minutes and serve.
