This coffee cake doesn’t rise much. It’s more like a Danish pastry.

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 C. flour
  • 1/2 C. chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 C. preserves, any kind you choose
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 2 lg. or 3 med. egg yolks

Cream butter and sugar well. Add egg yolks and mix until creamy. Add flour a tablespoon at a time. Grease a square 8-inch baking pan and spread dough evenly. Spread with preserves and top with chopped nuts. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
