Poor Man's Strawberry Shortcake

My mother made this recipe for our family, and used the canned biscuits because they were cheaper than buying the individual cakes. I've made them for my son every time he comes home.

Ingredients

  • 1 tube biscuits
  • 1/4 C. sugar
  • 1/2 C. water
  • 1 qt. strawberries
  • 1 tub whipped topping
  • 9 strawberries for garnish

Directions

Bake biscuits according to directions on tube. Set aside to cool. Puree strawberries and sugar in blender or food processor. Add water, as needer to blender. Cut biscuits in half. Layer the halves of 2 biscuits in the bottom of a medium size bowl. Spoon 1/2 of strawberry puree on biscuits. Top with whipped topping. Repeat layers. Add whole or cut strawberries for garnish.
