A moist cake flavored with butter, vanilla and pecans. Pound Cake has been apart of my family since before I was born and it was and remains to be one of the most common desserts served in our home and especially during holidays. It's a simple recipe, but I find it too be very consistant with other African American pound cake recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. butter
  • 3 C. sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 1/2 C. flour (sifted)
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract`
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon extract
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp. coconut extract
  • 1 C. chopped pecans
  • 1 C. buttermilk

Directions

Grease and flour tube pan. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add dry ingredients one at a time, mixing in a third of the buttermilk. after each one. Pour chopped pecans in pan first, then add cake mixture. Bake at 350 degreesĀ for 1 hour and 25 minutes.
