Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cup white sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 ½ cups canned pumpkin
  • ¾ cup canola oil
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a bread loaf pan with parchment paper to prepare. In a large bowl, whisk the sugar, pumpkin, eggs, salt, and oil together. Add the flour, baking soda, nutmeg, and cinnamon to the bowl and whisk until the ingredients are fully mixed. Reserve 1 cup batter and spoon 2 cups batter into the lined loaf pan. Whisk the remaining batter with the cocoa and milk. Pour the batter into the pan and use a butter knife to swirl the two batters together. Spoon the reserved pumpkin batter onto the top and swirl with the knife again. Bake for 1 hour and let cool for 45 minutes in the pan.
