  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 T. chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 T. hot sauce
  • 1 (28 oz.) can diced tomatoes, with juice
  • 1 (19 oz.) can red kidney beans

In a large pot, brown beef with onion and garlic until no longer pink. Drain and season with chili powder, salt, pepper, cumin, oregano, cocoa powder, and hot sauce. Stir in diced tomatoes with juice, bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 1 hour. Add in kidney beans, simmer for an additional 20 minutes, and serve.
