This pasta is super spicy, and ideal for a hot date at home.

  • 1/4 C. olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves,lightly crushed
  • crushed red pepper
  • 2 lbs. tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped
  • 2 fresh basil leaves
  • salt
  • 1 lb. penne

Pour oil into a large skillet. Add garlic and pepper and cook until garlic is golden, about 5 minutes. Remove garlic. Add tomatoes, basil and salt to taste. Cook 15-20 minutes. Bring 4 qts. water to a boil in a large pot. Add 2 Tbs. salt, then pasta. Stir well. Cook over high heat, stirring frequently, until the pasta is al dente. Drain the pasta. Transfer the penne to the skillet and toss well over high heat. Serve.
