  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1¾ cups flour
  • 1 cups Hershey’s cocoa
  • 1½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Frosting:
  • 1 cup butter, unsalted and softened
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-1/3 creamy peanut butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • Topping:
  • 8 ounces melting chocolate
  • 6 ounces butter
  • 10 mini Reese’s cups

Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, ¾ cups cocoa, baking powder and soda and salt until combined well. Add the eggs, milk, vanilla and oil, mixing until smooth. Pour in the boiling water and beat for 2 minutes. Pour the batter into 2 greased 8 in pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool completely. In a separate bowl, beat together the butter and cream cheese. Add the vanilla and peanut butter, blending until smooth and well mixed. Little by little, beat in the powdered sugar. Add 1 tablespoon of milk, one at a time, until the desired consistency reached. On a serving dish, or cake stand, pipe a rim of frosting on the bottom layer of the cake. Fill in the rest of the cake with frosting. Press the top cake on top gently and ice the rest of the cake, leaving some for decoration purposes. Refrigerate to let the icing set. While the cake is cooling, melt together the chocolate and butter, stirring often. Remove the cake and pour the melted chocolate over the middle, letting it drip off the sides. Using the remainder ¼ cups of cocoa powder, line the top and bottom of the cake. Let cook until chocolate hardens. Use the rest of the frosting and decorate the top with the mini Reese’s cups.
