  • 2 Tbs. oil
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 lb. Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 (14 1/2 oz.) cans diced tomatoes, drained
  • 2 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. dried basil
  • sea salt and pepper, to taste

Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the meat is browned. Make sure to crumble the beef and sausage as it cooks. Drain the excess fat. Put the skillet contents into the bottom of a crockpot and stir int he diced tomatoes,tomato sauce, bay leaves, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Cover and cook for 8 hours on low heat. Stir well before serving.
