Here is one easy recipe that will be the perfect dessert to leave in the freezer until you are ready to serve. The hard part is making sure someone doesn't get to it before you chow down on national milk chocolate day.

  • 2 C. heavy whipping cream
  • 1 C. whole milk
  • ½ C. sugar
  • ⅓ C. cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ½ C. semisweet chocolate chips

In a small bowl combine sugar and cocoa powder. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine cream, milk, vanilla, and chocolate chips. Continuously stir until all the chips are mostly melted.

Whisk in sugar and cocoa mix. Continue whisking until the ice cream mix is well combined. Let sit in the refrigerator 4 hours. Pour into a ice cream mixer and follow the manufacturing instructions. Let churn for 40-50 minutes. Place in the freezer until you are ready to serve.
