  • Donuts:
  • 1 Tbs. butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 C. sugar
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 C. flour
  • 1 C. milk
  • Cooking oil for frying doughnuts
  • 2 C. powdered sugar
  • 3/4 C. caramel sauce
  • 2 tsp. sea salt
  • 3 Tbs. milk
  • Coffee Frosting:
  • 3 C. powdered sugar
  • 1/3 C. margarine, softened
  • 2 1/2 tsp. instant coffee (dry)
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 3 to 4 Tbs. milk

In a double boiler over simmering water, melt butter. Beat eggs and sugar until well blended. Add cooled butter mixture. Sift baking powder, salt and flour. Slowly add milk while mixing until dough dorms. Roll out dough on a floured surface and cut with doughnut cutter. Fry 3 to 4 minutes in oil heated to 375 degrees. Drain on paper towels.

For salted caramel glaze, combine all ingredients in bowl and mix until smooth. Dip the cooled donuts in glaze. To prepare coffee frosting, beat sugar, margarine and instant coffee in bowl. Stir in vanilla and chocolate. Slowly mix in milk until frosting is smooth. Spread frosting over donuts before serving.
