This dessert is delicious and inspired by Post Street Creamery which is famous for their salted caramel ice cream. The recipe doesn’t call for very many ingredients and is a perfect sweet treat for this summer.

  • 3 ½ cups milk
  • 3 eggs
  • ¼ cup cream
  • 1 ¼ cups brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

Place the milk in a saucepan over medium-high heat and heat until small bubbles form in the pan but not until it boils. In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and gradually add half of the milk to the yolks. Stir constantly and then add the yolk mixture to the pan. In a separate saucepan, combine the sugar, cream, and butter over medium heat. Bring this mixture to a boil and stir until the sugar is fully melted. Cook for 3 minutes and remove from the heat to stir in the sea salt. Add this mixture to the yolk mixture and stir constantly. Lower the heat and cook until it is 160 degrees. Place the pan in a bowl full of ice. Once the mixture is completely cooled pour the mixture in an ice-cream freezer. Drain ice water from the freezer bucket and repack with salt and ice before covering with kitchen towels. Let it stand for 1 hour and then scoop into dishes or cones.
