  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 1/2 C. water
  • 3 strips orange zest
  • 2 C. watermelon, cubed
  • 3/4 C. silver tequila
  • 1/4 C. fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 2 C. crushed ice
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • Salt for rims

In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water and orange zest. Bring mixture to a boil. Make sure to stir consistently. Decrease heat and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 3 minutes, then remove syrup from heat.

Using a blender, blend watermelon until smooth. Transfer blended watermelon to a large pitcher. Pour in syrup, tequila and lime juice.

Prepare margarita classes and brush rims with lime wedges. Dip rims into salt until completely coated. Fill glasses with ice and pour in margarita mix.
