  • 1 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 4 lb. pork shoulder roast
  • 1 C. barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 C. apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 C. chicken broth
  • 1/4 C. light brown sugar
  • 1 T. prepared yellow mustard
  • 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 T. chili powder
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
  • 8 hamburger buns, split
  • 2 C. coleslaw (optional)

Pour the vegetable oil in the bottom of your crock pot. Add the pork roast and cover with barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth. In a medium bowl, mix together brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, onion, garlic, and thyme. Pour over the roast, stirring to mix. Cover and cook on high for five hours. Remove the roast and use two forks to shred the meat. Return meat to the crock pot and mix well. Lightly toast each hamburger bun. Distribute pork onto each toasted bun and top with cole slaw if desired.
