Sausage Strata

This egg dish is perfect for a hearty breakfast!

  • 2 lb. pork sausage, fried and drained
  • 4 C. milk
  • 12 beaten eggs
  • 12 slices white bread, crusts removed and cubed
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 2 1/2 C. sharp cheddar cheese
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Grease a 9x13 inch pan.  Sprinkle bread in pan.  Add sausage and cheese on top of bread.  In a separate bowl, mix eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and mustard.  Pour over bread and sausage.  Cover and refrigerate overnight.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for 1 hour.  Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
