  • 2½ C. uncooked elbow macaroni
  • ¼ C. butter
  • ¼ C. flour
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 C. 2 % milk
  • 5 C. shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 2 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 T. scallions, chopped

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Boil the macaroni according to the directions until al dente. Meanwhile, heat butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and salt until smooth. Gradually whisk in the milk and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until thick. Reduce the heat and stir in 3 cups of cheese and Worcestershire until melted and incorporated. Drain the pasta and add it to the cheese sauce. Transfer the macaroni to a baking dish and bake for 20 minutes. Top with remaining cheese and bake another 5 minutes until it is melted. Serve with scallions sprinkled on top.
