  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil
  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 lbs boneless beef round steak, ¾ inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1½ cup beef broth
  • Gravy:
  • 5 tablespoons flour
  • 3½ cups milk
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • salt to taste

Combine the flour and seasonings in a small bowl. Cut the steak into desired size. Coat the steak with flour mix and set aside the leftover flour. Heat oil on a skillet and add the steak to cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until browned. Transfer the meat into a crockpot. Pour in the broth and cook on high for 4-5 hours. Stir once in the remaining last 30 minutes. Remove the meat and keep warm until ready to serve. Using the juices from the crockpot, move on to making the gravy. Pour the juices into a skillet and whisk in the leftover flour and the 5 tablespoons reserved for the gravy. Continue whisking and cook until golden brown. Stir in the milk, pepper and salt and continue whisking until the gravy thickens. Serve by pouring on top of the steak.
