Delicious cookies made from my grandmother's recipe. If you like biscotti, you will love these authentic Italian cookies.

30 cookies


  • 1 lb. Crisco
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 1/2 C. sugar
  • 3 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 5 C. flour (add one more if needed)
  • 1/16 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 C. sesame seeds

Mix all dry ingredients. Cut in the Crisco. Blend in eggs one at a time. Knead dough until smooth. For each cookie, shape rounded tablespoon of dough into an oval, roll in sesame seeds, coating completely. Place on cookie sheet. Bake in 400-degree oven for approximately 15 minutes (depending on your oven). These will keep in air-tight container for approx. 2 weeks. Recipe can be cut in half.
