Sicilian Pizza

My grandmother taught me how to make this healthier authentic pizza! It has a thick crust , which I have made easier - and it is best in the summer with fresh tomatoes. Much healthier than home-delivered or frozen.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Betty Crocker Hot Roll Mix, prepare as for pizza dough (use olive oil): Let rise once, then put it in a 10x15-inch pan with olive oil and pat out to fit pan
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 lb. Italian sausage, browned and drained
  • oregano
  • garlic salt
  • 1 C. mozzarella cheese
  • 1 C. Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Take prepared dough, in pan. Drain tomatoes (save juice). Spread drained tomatoes over dough. Spread Italian sausage pieces over tomatoes. Sprinkle with about 2 teaspoons of oregano and garlic salt to taste. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over all, followed by Parmesan cheese. Take reserved tomato juices and drizzle over cheeses. Take a fork and press down gently across entire pizza. Bake until browned, about 35-40 minutes.
