Silver Cake
Ingredients
- 1/2 C. butter
- 1 1/4 C. sugar
- 2 egg whites
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 C. milk
- 1 1/2 C. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
Directions
Cream butter. Add sugar and mix until well blended. Add almond extract to milk. Mix salt and baking powder with the flour. Add liquid and dry ingredients alternately to first mixture. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Mix smooth. Pour into greased and flour-dusted 6x10-inch cake. Bake 35 minutes in a moderate 350-degree oven. Turn out of pan. Cool and ice.
