  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 qt. peanut oil, for frying
  • 2 Tbs. flour
  • 2 Tbs. water
  • 2 C. shredded cabbage
  • 2 oz. carrots, shredded
  • 8 (7-in.) egg roll wrappers

In a bowl, season the pork with ginger and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly. Brown the pork in a skillet until it is cooked through and set aside. In a second skillet, heat the oil to 375 degrees or over medium high heat. While the oil is heating, combine the water and flour in a small bowl until a paste forms. In another bowl, mix the cabbage, carrots, and cooked pork. Combine well.

Lay out one egg roll wrapper with a corner pointed toward you. Put 1/4 to 1/3 C. cabbage mixture on the wrapper and fold the corner up over the mixture. Fold the left and right corners toward the center and continue to roll the wrapper up. Brush some of the flour paste on the final corner to seal it.

Put the egg rolls into the heated oil and fry until golden brown, turning occasionally. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
