Baking biscuits together with the kids is a great way of spending some quality time with the family and to open their minds to the wonderful world of cooking. Shortbread biscuits recipe is perfect because it's simple and easy to make, in fact there is no you can go wrong! The best part about making these simple yet luxurious biscuits is that you can use any flavor for the recipe like vanilla, lemon zest, chocolate, orange and so on.

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 C. all-purpose flour

Preheat the oven to350 degrees. Cut the butter into small cubes and place it in a bowl. Add sugar to the bowl and use an electric hand whisk to mix the two together until a pale and smooth paste is formed.

Add vanilla extract to the mixture and slowly fold in the flour until it is just mixed. Don't overdo it because the biscuits won't turn out to be crumbly. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough into a thick sheet and then use a cookie cutter to cut out the biscuits. Place them on the tray and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Sprinkle icing sugar on top of the biscuits for garnishing.
