  • 3 C. Flour
  • 3/4 C. Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 1 tsp. Caraway Seeds
  • 1 C. Buttermilk
  • 4 Tbs. (1/2 stick) Butter, melted
  • 1 Egg, lightly beaten

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9" skillet. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add caraway seeds to mixture. In a medium-sized bowl, combine buttermilk, butter and beaten egg. Add wet ingredients to flour mixture and stir until they've formed a soft dough. Turn the dough into the skillet and smooth it out into a flat, round loaf. Use a knife to slice a cross into the top of the dough if desired. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes.
