This is a great side dish to throw together if you don't have time to make garlic bread or something fancier. Pop it in the oven and it's ready in under a half hour.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. shortening
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 C. milk
  • 3 C. Bisquick mix
  • 2 C. grated American cheese
  • 2 Tbs. poppy seed
  • 2 tsp. minced onion

Directions

Heat oven to 300 degrees. Melt shortening in microwave and then combine eggs and milk into the melted shortening. Add to biscuit mix; blend in cheese, poppy seed and onion. Mix until dry ingredients are moistened. Line skillet with double layer of wax paper. Spread dough in skillet; bake at 300 degrees for 25 minutes.

  • Do I have to use Poppy Seed and Bisquick? I will try it this way if I can find the seeds but if not can I not use them.
