Lots of beans and tomatoes make this a hearty chili recipe. Cumin and chili powder ensure lots of flavor!

After ground beef is prepared and drained, add all other ingredients and simmer for 7-10 hours.  If too spicy, add a sprinkle of cinnamon.

  • I added a tbsp. of All Spice and an extra can of red beans. Good recipe that feeds my family of three for days.

  • As a suggestion, when recipes call for cumin, chili powder, etc., and you don't have any, rather than buying the rather expensive containers of individual spices, buy an envelope of taco seasoning and use that in an amount that suits your taste.

  • My family loves this chili. I add about 1/2 can tomato juice though because we like ours not so thick.

  • I also make a recipe very similar to this one. However, since we tend to like our food spicy, I replace 1 can of the stewed tomatoes with 1 can of diced tomatoes w/green chiles. I also add either 1 cup of beef stock or dark beer & use red beans in place of the kidney beans; sometimes use black beans, add 1 cup of frozen corn & add x-tra cumin to give it a Southwestern twist. Either way, we love it...great recipe!!
