Whether you use if for sandwiches or a dinner side, this rustic whole wheat bread is an easy recipe. Place the dough in your slow cooker and you will have fresh bread ready in about two hours.

Ingredients

  • 2 C. warm reconstituted fat-free powdered milk
  • 2 Tbs. canola oil
  • 1/4 C. brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 C. whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/4 C. white flour

In a large bowl, combine together milk, oil, brown sugar, salt, yeast, and half the flour with electric mixer on low. Add remaining flour. Mix well. Place dough in well-greased pan that will fit into your cooker. Cover with greased tin foil. Let stand for 5 minutes. Place in slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 2 to 3 hours. Check often for last hour to take out if ready. Remove pan and uncover. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
