  • 2-3 lb. beef brisket
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. celery seed
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 C. ketchup
  • 1/2 C. chili sauce
  • 1/4 C. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 Tbs. vinegar
  • 2 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard

Trim the fat from the brisket and cut to fit into the crockpot. In a bowl, combine the chili powder, garlic powder, celery seed and pepper. Rub it evenly over the meat. Put the meat into the crockpot.

In another bowl, combine the ketchup, chili sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, and dry mustard. Pour the mixture over the brisket, cover, and cook for 8 to 10 hours on low.

Remove the meat from the crockpot and cut the brisket across the grain into thin slices. Serve the juices with meat.
