This is an old familiy recipes that's a great way to use left-over sour cream.

  • 1/2 C. shortening
  • 1 1/2 C. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 1/2 C. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 C. sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Topping:
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder. In your mixer, cream together shortening and sugar until light a fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs and blend thoroughly. In batches, add flour mixture and sour cream until thoroughly blended. Mix together sugar and cinnamon in a bowl or shaker. Put cookie dough on greased baking sheets in 1 tablespoon measurements. Sprinkle tops with the cinnamon sugar. Bake for 9-12 minutes until the tops are golden brown.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
