Ingredients

  • Sour Dough Starter:
  • 1/2 C. of potato flakes
  • 1/2 C. of sugar
  • 1 envelope of yeast
  • 1 C. of very warm water
  • Bread:
  • 6 1/2 C. flour
  • 1/2 C. oil
  • 1/3 C. sugar
  • 1 1/2 C. very warm water
  • 1 C. sourdough starter
  • Vegetable oil

Directions

Combine starter ingredients and put in refrigerator for 3-5 days. When ready to make bread, put flour in large bowl. In a smaller bowl put oil, sugar, water, and sourdough starter. Pour this gradually into the flour and kneed until it is well mixed. Transfer to a large bowl, which has been well oiled with vegetable oil. Turn over so the top will be well greased. Cover the bowl. Let sit overnight until doubles in size. Kneed down into three equal sizes and put in greased 9x5" pans. Let rise all day. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.

Tip: To restart the sourdough starter, add 3/4 C. sugar, 3 tsp. of potato flakes and 1 C. of very warm water. Feed every 3 to 7 days.
