Spaghetti Beef Casserole

Easy baked spaghetti becomes a hearty meal with beef and bacon.

Ingredients

  • 7 or 8 oz. spaghetti
  • 4 strips bacon
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 (10 oz.) can tomato soup
  • 1 (10 oz.) can mushroom soup
  • 1/2 C. water
  • grated cheese

Directions

Cook spaghetti until tender . Set aside. Dice and fry the bacon then add onion and fry until transparent. Add meat and cook until meat begins to color. Drain spaghetti well and add meat mixture, salt, soups and water. Taste for seasonings. Spread in a greased 2-qt casserole or bake dish and sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 350 F. for about one hour.

Makes 8 servings.

  • I appreciate the comments, but let's use our common sense, no??? If you don't want all the salt, omit it, do like the smart person did and use low-sodium soups, etc, When you first make any recipe, keep your eyes on it. If it's brown enough, pull it out!   • I made this dish, omitted the salt and used low sodium soups. I also used freshly grated parmesan and baked for 30 min. It was delicious, not too brown and the bacon, I think, provided plenty of salt. Better to have too little and then salt to taste when you eat it.

  • This dish was way too salty. I would omit the salt entirely and bake for 30 minutes as it was VERY brown after 45 minutes.

  • Why does it have to bake for an hour? Everything is already cooked -- it seems like overkill!
