Spaghetti with Marinara

This is a pretty basic Italian spaghetti recipe. Beginner cooks should try it out.

  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/3 C. olive oil
  • 4 C. tomatoes, peeled and cut in wedges
  • 1 Tbs. chopped parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. oregano
  • 3 Tbs. tomato paste
  • grated cheese
  • 1 lb. spaghetti

Brown garlic in oil. Add tomatoes, parsley, basil, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes. Add oregano and tomato paste and continue to cook for 15 minutes. While sauce is cooking, cook spaghetti in boiling salted water until tender. Drain and put on serving dish. Pour sauce over spaghetti. Mix lightly and serve with grated cheese.
