Sparkling Walnut Sauce

Known as "wet walnuts" to some, this sauce turns ice cream, pound cake, waffles or pancakes into special dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 C. chopped walnuts
  • 3/4 C. sugar
  • 1/2/C. maple syrup
  • 2 Tbs. water

Directions

Place walnuts in 2 C. glass jar with screw-top lid. In a 2 C. glass measure, combine sugar, maple syrup and water; mix well. Microwave at high (100%) for 2 minutes; stir to dissolve sugar. Pour sauce over walnuts; tighten lid. Cool to room temperature; store in refrigerator.

Yield: 2 cups
