Spiced Chocolate Brownies with Peppermint Frosting

- 2/3 C. butter or margarine
- 5 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, cut into pieces
- 1 3/4 C. sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 lg. eggs
- 1 C. all-purpose flour
- Store bought peppermint frosting
Begin by preheating oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom and sides of 9-inch square pan with shortening.
In 1-quart saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. Cool 5 minutes.
In medium bowl, beat sugar, vanilla and eggs with electric mixer on high speed 5 minutes. Beat in chocolate mixture on low speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Beat in flour just until blended, scraping bowl occasionally. Spread in ban.
Bake 40 to 45 minutes or just until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cook completely in pan on wire rack, about 2 hours. Frost with peppermint frosting. Cut into 4 rows by 4 rows.
