The pear adds a delicious moistness to this spiced bread. This is great for the fall and it's even better the next day!

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 2 C packed brown sugar
  • 1 C. vegetable oil
  • 1/2 C. molasses
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 3-4 pears, peeled, cored and diced
  • 1 C. chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two loaf pans. In a bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. In a separate large mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, vegetable oil, molasses, vanilla, and stir in flour mixture. Pour into prepared loaf pans. Bake for 55-65 minutes or until done. Cool in pans for 15 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely.
