Spicy Italian Roast Beef Sandwich

If you love Italian roast beef sandwiches and have a crockpot, you need to try this recipe. It might take a while for the beef to cook, but it's worth it. Your sandwiches will be flavorful and you won't be able to get enough! Peppers and spices give it an extra kick.

  • 3 C water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. onion salt
  • 1 tsp. dried parsley
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
  • 5 lb. rump roast
  • 1/2 C olives
  • 1/2 C green jalepeno, minced
  • 1/2 C carrots, minced
  • 1/2 C red bell pepper, minced
  • 10 French rolls
  • French fries, as needed

Combine water with salt, ground black pepper, oregano, basil, onion salt, parsley, garlic powder, bay leaf and salad dressing mix in a saucepan. Stir well and bring to a boil.

Place roast in slow cooker and pour saucepan mixture over the meat. Cover and cook on Low for 10 to 12 hours, or on High for 4 to 5 hours.

When meat is close to done, make French fries according to bag instructions.

When meat is done, remove bay leaf and shred meat with a fork. Place meat in French roll and add olives, jalepenos, carrots and red bell peppers.
