Spicy Marinara Sauce
Serving Size / Yield
- 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 5 garlic cloves, minced
- 10 basil leaves
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 lbs. tomatoes, seedless
Place the olive oil in a saucepan over medium high heat.
Once the oil is hot, add in the onions and cook for 5 minutes or until tender.
Stir in the garlic and continue cooking for an additional 30 seconds until the garlic is fragrant.
Stir in the tomatoes, salt, basil, crushed red pepper, and pepper. Mix well until the spices are combined evenly throughout the sauce.
Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low.
Cook for 30 minutes making sure to stir occasionally.
Remove the basil leaves and discard.
Stir again and then serve.
