Creep out your guests with these spooky, yet delicious, witch fingers! This recipe uses blanched almonds to make the witch's finger nails, but you can use frosting or candies instead. These are the perfect cookies for your next Halloween party!

  • 1 C. butter, softened
  • 1 C. powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 2/3 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 C. blanched almonds
  • red cake decorating gel

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and line the baking sheets with parchment paper. In a bowl, beat together the butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add the flour mixture into the butter mixture until a soft dough forms.

Form the dough into finger shapes and press one blanched almond into the tip as a finger nail. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cookies are golden. Once the cookies have cooled, remove the almond, put a line of red gel along the bed of the nail, and then replace the almond.
