Cupcakes have the ability to bring the kid out in all of us and we aren’t complaining. These frosting topped chocolate cupcakes are delectable and the sprinkles add a bit of whimsy.

  • 1 1/3 C. flour
  • ¼ tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 C. cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbs. butter, softened
  • 1 ½ C. sugar
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¾ C. milk
  • Buttercream frosting
  • Sprinkles

Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a muffin tin with liners. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa and salt. In a separate bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Then beat in the eggs and stir in vanilla. Add the dry ingredients alternating with milk. Beat well between additions. Fill each muffin cup 2/3 full of batter. Bake for 15 to 17 minutes. Allow to cool and frost with buttercream frosting and add sprinkles.
